Skundric, who is
leading a delegation of the Ministry of Mining and Energy to Republika Srpska, said following talks with Republika Srpska Prime Minister Milorad Dodik and Minister of Economy, Energy and Development Slobodan Puhalac that today’s talks served as a first step in the establishment of integrated energy systems, particularly the hydropower systems in Serbia and Republika Srpska and systems in the region.
We wish to make serious efforts for the well being of the people of Republika Srpska, Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, said the Minister. He added that the current situation in the energy sector in Serbia and Republika Srpska was also discussed, and agreement was reached on the most important activities regarding current and future energy requirements in Serbia and the Republika Srpska.
He said that he expects that the promotion of a newly established project company will be held by the end of the year, which will be assigned the task to establish how to best use the potential of the River Drina, currently one of the most important projects in the Balkans.
Skundric said that these talks will speed up work on plans to use all available energy resources.
Speaking about cooperation in oil and gas arrangements, the Minister said that the South Stream is the most important strategic and developmental project for Serbia and Republika Srpska.
He said that hopefully in talks with Russian Gazprom a link of the gas pipeline will be secured to supply Republika Srpska and Bosnia-Herzegovina with natural gas, adding that the gas pipeline South Stream should begin work in 2013 or 2014.
Puhalac said that a study on joint Serbian and Republika Srpska energy projects will be ready by the end of the year.
