Corridor 10 – priority for Serbia’s economic development

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic and World Bank representatives said at today’s meeting that the construction of Corridor 10 is a priority for Serbia and its economic development.

The Ministry says in a statement that bearing in mind the successful cooperation so far, as well as the fact that the World bank endorses reforms in Serbia which primarily lead to economic development, drawing in investments and increasing citizens’ living standard, it was proposed at the meeting that the World Bank grants a loan for the construction of the Nis-Dimitrovgrad section on Corridor 10.

The collocutors agreed that the specific agreement on the amount and terms of the loan will be reached during Dinkic’s visit to the World Bank headquarters in Washington this week, where he will discuss the matter with World Bank top officials.

At today’s meeting they looked at current projects which the World Bank is implementing in Serbia, as well as overall economic situation in the country.

Present at the meeting were World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Shigeo Katsu, World Bank country director and regional coordinator for southeast Europe Jane Armitage and director of the World Bank office in Serbia Simon Gray.
