The Ministry adds in a statement that the Serbian delegation comprising Assistant Minister of Health Elizabet Paunovic and Advisor to the Minister of Health in the Permanent Committee of the WHO Regional Committee Snezana Simic met with WHO Regional Director for Europe Marc Danzon, WHO Deputy Regional Director Nata Menabde, Chief of Serbia’s WHO Office Dorit Nitzan and Deputy Chief of Serbia’s WHO Office Melita Vujnovic.
The statement says that the realisation of the two year’s cooperation programme, signed between the WHO and the Serbian Ministry of Health in 2007, was discussed at the meeting, and their cooperation so far was commended by both parties.
The WHO’s assistance in providing drug and medical supplies for health institutions in central parts of Kosovo-Metohija is of great importance.
The issue of social health determinants, especially those of marginal groups and the Roma, was also discussed.
It is estimated that after the positive results concerning Serbia’s health system improvement, the cooperation between the WHO and Serbia in this field should be intensified next year, along with active cooperation with other countries in the region, concludes the statement.
