“We have started creating a system of registered agricultural households, which will directly help farmers,” Labus said, adding that a total of 45,000 households have been registered so far.
He stressed that the government fulfilled its promise to credit farmers by approving more than 24,000 short-term loans whose value amounts to 1.7 billion dinars, as well as 81 long-term loans.
Labus said that the government paid a total of 529 million dinars for wheat premiums, 95 percent of which went to mills while the remaining part was given to only five percent of registered farmers.
Serbian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Danilo Golubovic said that the government will adopt a long-term strategy for agriculture development which will conform with EU regulations.
