14 Serbian athletes at Beijing Paralympics

The Serbian Ministry of Youth and Sports stated today that 14 Serbian athletes will participate at the Beijing Paralympics from September 7 to 17 in athletics, table tennis and shooting.
According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Zlatko Kesler is also among the athletes. He won four medals at the previous Paralympics, including a gold medal. Serbian athletes were accommodated in pavilion B of the Olympic Village following the national flag raising ceremony.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has until now, as it will do in the future, invested in athletes with disabilities, and the Ministry has prepared a strategy for the development of sports for the period from 2009 to 2013.
The strategy includes a programme for financing potential candidates for the upcoming Paralympics which will be held in London in 2010, and one year and four year plans covering needs and demands of potential candidates will be made.
The Ministry has a developed strategy for athletes with disabilities, and it will make efforts to further improve conditions for them through investments in the sport federation for disabled people, the Paralympics Committee of Serbia, the blind sports federation of Serbia and the deaf sports federation.
