According to a statement issued by the Ministry, addressing a press conference held in the press centre in Bujanovac Markovic praised the valuable role played by his predecessors owing to whose efforts the situation in southern Serbia is much better, adding that there still are problems that need to be resolved as soon as possible.
This is above all my responsibility as president of the Coordinating Body for southern Serbia, but it is a responsibility that I share with municipal presidents. It is only with team work that we can achieve our common goals, which are better living standards and more employment for the people of the area, said the Minister.
The press conference was also attended by Head of the OSCE Mission in Serbia Hans Ola Urstad, who said that it is a positive sign that Minister Markovic is visiting southern Serbia immediately after assuming office.
Urstad stressed that the OSCE wishes to closely cooperate with the Coordinating Body to improve living conditions in the area.
Municipal presidents of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja Nader Sadik, Shaip Kamberi and Slobodan Draskovic said that they are pleased at the appointment of Minister Markovic as president of the Coordinating Body for southern Serbia, of which intensive efforts are expected to resolve problems, particularly those related to validation of diplomas and degrees.
During the visit to Bujanovac, Markovic and Urstad met with MP Riza Halimi, as well as representatives of Serbian and Roma political groups and leaders of Albanian parties.
This was Minister Markovic’s first visit to the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja as president of the Coordinating Body, concludes the statement.
