Addressing the press in Serbian parliament, Djelic said that he is talking to representatives of the Serbian Radical Party about whether the clause they want added to the bill on the ratification of the SAA stating that Kosovo is an integral part of Serbia should be part of the law or a separate declaration.
He said that it would be better that a wide majority supports the SAA and even in this matter it is made evident that Serbia is not giving up the just struggle to safeguard its territorial integrity.
We shall see if we meet with success, but it is our responsibility to reach a national consensus regarding two key issues, Kosovo and the EU, stressed the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to Djelic, the fact that the Serbian Radical Party is saying that it will vote for the SAA if its demand to add the aforementioned clause as part of the law or a separate declaration to the bill is accepted is positive, because this shows that that all major political parties see that it is in Serbia’s national interest to become a member of the EU.
A wide consensus on the issue shows the strategic direction for the country’s development and this is why it is worth making efforts to reach it, said Djelic.
