The Serbian government stated that the Ministry of Justice passed a decision allowing the extradition of Radovan Karadzic to the International Criminal Court for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
The decision was made under the Law on cooperation of Serbia-Montenegro with the ICTY for criminal prosecution of persons responsible for severe violation of humanitarian law committed on the territory of the former Yugoslavia since 1991 as well as under the Law on ministries.
Previously, the Belgrade District Court passed a decision that all prerequisites for Karadzic's extradition to the ICTY have been met.
The Ministry sent the decision to the competent bodies in charge of implementation.
