The Serbian Ministry of Interior stated that members of the Ministry who were securing the rally organised by the Serbian Radical Party were ordered to keep peace and order without the use of force, as well as safety of all participant of the riot and journalists, safety of public institutions and foreign diplomatic offices.
A group with masked faces and wooden sticks clashed with police on the fringes of a protest rally, obviously in a move to cause conflict with police, the Ministry stated.
According to current data, 46 persons have been injured, including 25 police members, 19 citizens and two journalists.
The situation in Belgrade is peaceful at the moment. The Ministry calls all citizens to be restrained in the interest of general safety and peace in the streets of the capital, the statement added.
