Jeremic will repeat the Serbian government’s position not to accept the unilateral and illegal declaration of independence by Kosovo-Metohija as well as protest the reconfiguration of the civilian presence in the province without a prior Security Council decision.
He will request that reconfiguration of the international civilian mission in Kosovo-Metohija be implemented in line with Resolution 1244 and with the approval of the Serbian government and the UN Security Council.
The minister will reiterate that Serbia is not against the negotiations on reconfiguration of the civilian mission in Kosovo-Metohija, but only under condition that it does not violate Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and entail implementation of Martti Ahtisaari’s plan.
During his stay in New York, Jeremic will also have a series of bilateral meetings with top officials of UN Security Council member states, it is added in the statement.
