According to the statement issued by the Ministry, this is in complete violation of the 2001 border demarcation agreement between Serbia and Macedonia, and any agreements made and actions taken by the Macedonian side in cooperation with unauthorised bodies in Kosovo are invalid for Serbia.
By beginning border demarcation with Serbia in the Kosovo-Metohija area, and by cooperating with unauthorised organs in Pristina, Macedonia has shown that it does not respect Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and does not recognise Serbia as party to the agreement.
This is in opposition to the spirit and decrees of the 1996 Agreement on the Regulation of Relations and Promotion of Cooperation, under which Serbia, among other things, also recognised Macedonia’s constitutional name.
Serbia will raise the issue of flagrant violation of international norms by Macedonia before appropriate UN bodies, concluded the statement.
