The Serbian Ministry of Justice stated today that it was informed by Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Belgrade that on June 26 Stanko Subotic was released from custody due to the expiration of the statute of limitations according to Russian legal regulations.
The statement adds that Interpol’s National Central Bureau informed the Ministry of Subotic’s release from extradition custody in Moscow in line with the information from the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.
Since the Ministry of Justice has not received the decision of the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, it cannot yet comment on the matter.
Because the case has not expired according to Serbian regulations, the international arrest warrant remains in force, adds the statement.
