Prime Minister Kostunica told reporters at the Serbian government that he talked with the Romanian President about the situation in the region and bilateral relations, which were evaluated as excellent by both officials.
He said that it is necessary to improve economic cooperation and work on the joint projects of construction of oil and gas pipelines and traffic network.
The two officials discussed the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, and Iliescu said that Romania will support in international institutions Serbia-Montenegro's efforts to improve position of Serbs and other non-Albanians in the province.
The Romanian President described the two countries’ relations as good, adding that the meeting also focused on measures to liberalise visa regimes between the two countries.
Romania is considering simplifying the visa procedure, introducing free visas and opening more consulates, said Iliescu.
Romania, which is a NATO member and is due to join the European Union as well, will offer its strong support for Serbia-Montenegro’s efforts to join the EU, Iliescu added.
