According to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, it was once again affirmed during the talks that Russia maintains its principled position that Security Council Resolution 1244 must be respected, which guarantees the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia within its internationally recognised borders.
Jeremic stressed that two very important segments of Serbia’s foreign policy, safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and continuation of excellent bilateral relations with Russia will not change following the formation of the new Serbian government.
He emphasised the importance of economic cooperation with Russia and said that he expects that the Serbian government, at its session tomorrow, will adopt the proposal to ratify the energy agreement with Russia, because there is consensus within the government on that question.
He said that this will further improve economic cooperation with Russia.
Kosachov conveyed to Minister Jeremic that in all the talks he held until now with Serbian officials he reiterated that Moscow does not oppose Serbia’s European integration, concludes the statement.
