Government members presented with SAA, transitional agreement

Director of the Serbian government’s Media Relations Office Milivoje Mihajlovic stated today that government members were presented with the text of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) as well as with the text of the Transitional agreement.

Mihajlovic told the Tanjug news agency that the provisional agreement is a part of SAA and is standard in its form.
The economic part of the Agreement can be applied immediately even before its ratification in all 27 EU member parliaments, which can take over a year, so the economic benefits can be applied immediately, he said.
Mihajlovic recalled that the government on December 6, 2007 unilaterally accepted the text of SAA as well as the text of the Transitional agreement on trade and commercial issues between the EU and the Republic of Serbia.
According to Mihajlovic, the government at the same session authorised Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic to sign the SAA and the Transitional agreement.
Mihajlovic said that the text of the SAA signed in Luxemburg on April 29 is available on the Serbian government’s official website, where the transitional agreement can also be viewed.
