At the 118th ministerial session of the Council of Europe, Jeremic addressed the participants and said that the unilateral declaration of independence has neither solved any problems, nor made things better, improved cooperation or brought stability and safety.
He said that instead of working together to bring Belgrade and Pristina closer within one state, with maximum autonomy for Kosovo Albanians, a solution has been imposed which destroys the very essence of European values.
This has caused huge damage to Serbia, the Western Balkans and Europe. The unilateral declaration of independence has divided us all and there is no point denying that, reiterated Jeremic.
According to him, the only way to overcome this division, remain committed to European values and achieve a sustainable solution is to sit down at the negotiating table again until a mutually acceptable solution is found.
We must now focus all our efforts on successful talks, led in good faith and in the spirit of compromise, based on our joint values and respect for international law. We must devote our all hopes and determination to that, noted the Minister.
Serbia is committed to cooperation with all Council of Europe member countries with the aim of improving a prosperous, safe and undivided Europe, stressed Jeremic.
