VIP Mobile got the prize for the largest greenfield investment, Alena Ltd for creating the largest number of new jobs, and Telenor for the biggest investment.
A special award for investment in an underdeveloped area was given to Elrad whereas Hemofarm got the special award for a socially-responsible investment.
The winners of three main awards will compete for the Investor of the Year Award granted every year by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to foreign investors in Southeast Europe.
In the last three years, OECD has awarded companies in Serbia for the largest greenfield investment in the region, namely Ball Packaging in 2004, Metro in 2005 and Airport City Belgrade in 2006.
SIEPA Director Vesna Peric said that foreign investors do not only bring their capital and new jobs to Serbia, but new technologies and expertise from foreign markets that are irreplaceable factors for the country's fast economic development.
The commission that decided on the winners of this year's awards comprised State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Jasna Matic, Executive Director of Foreign Investors Council in Serbia Ana Firtel-Vlajic, SIEPA Director Vesna Peric, Secretary General of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities Djordje Stanicic and Executive Director of Smart Kolektiv Neven Marinovic.
