Scamen informed Bubalo on the launch of a process to find appropriate locations for building the company’s first shopping centre in Belgrade and that SPAR plans to build shopping centres and supermarkets in all major Serbian cities.
SPAR's first investment of several tens of millions of euros is planned for 2008.
SPAR is the major supermarket chain in Austria with over 1,000 outlets, nearly 500 in Italy and nearly 280 in Slovenia, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Croatia. The company employs over 25,000 people.
With its arrival on the Serbian market, SPAR would significantly contribute to increasing competition and the quality on offer in the area of trade in Serbia, according to a statement.
