The Ministry of Economy and Regional Development says in a statement that the meeting concerned the beginning of the permanent presentation of ILO work in Belgrade, where the organisation opened its office.
Three ILO projects, worth $1.2 million, were presented at the meeting, reads the statement and adds that the projects concern youth employment, strengthening the capacity of labour market institutions and direct support to active measures of youth employment.
Dinkic told Ulshoeffer that thanks to active employment measures, the unemployment rate in Serbia was reduced from 21.6% in 2006 to 18.8% in 2007.
He also stressed that his ministry will keep implementing these measures and added that the 2008 budget for these purposes was increased by a quarter in comparison with the 2007 budget.
Dinkic announced that at today’s session the government will adopt the Bill on professional rehabilitation of the disabled, adding that the enforcement of this act will help employ over 7,000 disabled persons in 2009.
