Speaking on the position of women in Serbia, Ljajic stressed that it has improved through legislation since 2000 and that it will continue to be promoted further.
He announced that during the upcoming days the Ministry will make public a draft of the national strategy for improving the position of women and gender equality as well as a set of measures for increased participation of women in political and public life, their better economic position, education and health care.
Our focus will be to change the stereotypes of the position of women in society, and we will dedicate special attention to the position of women in rural areas as well as Roma women, the Minister stressed and pointed out that an anti-discriminatory law is to be adopted during the first half of the year.
He expressed gratitude for Iranian support for Serbia’s candidacy in the UN Human Rights Council.
Nazari presented the current position of women in Iran and pointed out that women have an important place in Iranian society.
According to her, women make up 64% of the total number of students in Iran as well as 35% of the total number of employees.
Nazari expressed a readiness for intensive dialogue with Serbia in order to exchange experiences on the position of women.
