Kostunica receives Serbia-Montenegrin, US basketball teams

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica organised a reception last night for the basketball teams of Serbia-Montenegro and the United States, scheduled to play an exhibition match at the newly-built Belgrade Arena tonight. As a sign of gratitude for the hospitality, Kostunica was presented a Dream Team jersey with the players’ signatures.

The reception was attended by US Ambassador to Belgrade Michael Polt, members of the Serbian government, and numerous public figures.
“It is a great pleasure to have our and America’s basketball giants together tonight, “ said Kostunica added that the “pleasure is even greater since all of us - Serbia-Montenegro, the US, and a good part of the world - will be able to enjoy in a truly superb sporting event tonight.”
Serbian Sport Administration Director Aleksandar Sostar said he expects to see a lot more “dream teams” in Belgrade and he expressed hope that “we will have more reason to celebrate after our athletes are back from the Olympics in Athens, just as we have celebrated so many times before, after big sport events.”
The US team’s coach, Larry Brown, said today’s match will not be merely a training session. He said that it is very important for the Dream Team to win a match against a brilliant team, at the beautiful Belgrade Arena.
The game starts at 20:00 and will be broadcast live on the national television RTS.
