Serbian Minister of Labour and Social Policy Rasim Ljajic talked today with members of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) delegation about civil sector development and socio-economic dialogue in Serbia.

During the meeting Ljajic said that the civil sector played a big role in the process of changes and democratisation of the country and that the role of non-governmental organisations is also very important in view of the current political situation.
Speaking about social dialogue in Serbia, the Minister said that the state has to work on strengthening capacities of social partners and substantial social dialogue.
He said that one of the priority tasks is that social partners reach agreement on the general collective agreement.
As part of the strengthening of social dialogue, Ljajic said that it is necessary that all new bills be revised first by the Socio-Economic Council and then submitted to the Serbian parliament for adoption, it is added in the statement.
