Under the Programme of measures to encourage agricultural production in 2004, banks have agreed or approved the entire quota of short-term loans to registered farms, totaling 1.7 billion dinars, according to a statement from the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management.
The total number of loans approved and realised is 28,120, reads the statement, adding that the disbursement of long-term farming loans by commercial banks is under way, with a total budget of 2 billion dinars.
The statement went on to say that the total sum earmarked to encourage agricultural production in 2004 is 3.7 billion dinars.
The ministry has also launched the implementation of a programme of measures for rural development, formulated by the Decree on the usage of rural development stimulus funds in 2004, according to the statement.
