Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Slobodan Milosavljevic and representatives of the ministries of finance and trade and services met today with representatives of the largest food producers and traders in Serbia.
Djelic warned that in the last 11 months there was a 16% increase in food product prices, which makes it one of the largest hikes in Europe.
The participants examined price structures, the impact of the increase in the cost of raw materials, the effects of drought, market structure and the role of margins and rebates in retail prices.
They agreed to continue working in sectioned groups during the next two weeks to determine the measures necessary for faster development of industry and trade in Serbia, which will assist in making prices of products more accessible to Serbian citizens.
They confirmed that their goal is to enhance the standard of living for Serbian citizens and to improve the quality of food products in Serbia.
