The upcoming recapitalisation of the Serbian Export Credit and Insurance Agency in the amount of $50 million and merger with the export credit fund SMECA will provide exporters with larger funds for financing exports, as well as firm guarantees in foreign trade.
Djelic said that the leadership of major public companies will present a public procurement plan during the first quarter of 2008, aiming for further transparency and participation by domestic businesses.
Djelic stressed that it is necessary to consider introduction of more strict conditions for importing used buses, trucks and agricultural machines in order to protect the environment and strengthen domestic production.
The upcoming investments in the Serbian armed forces should be used for renewing the domestic arms industry, and by the end of February a draft export strategy for the period from 2008 to 2010 will be ready which will be presented to businesspeople for comment.
The meeting was also attended by Serbian Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac and representatives of other relevant ministries.
