Djelic explained that in that case, the total infrastructure investments in Serbia in the next five years will be larger than ever before in its history, including budgetary and European funds.
He stressed that investments should help increase exports, particularly in metal, textile and automobile industries and agriculture, which achieved relatively favourable results in 2007, adding that €1 billion per year is already available to Serbia from European funds.
The largest growth in exports of 50% was recorded in the textile industry, while agriculture marked a surplus of $800 million, emphasised Djelic and listed automobile industry and agriculture as particularly perspective sectors which foreign partners are interested in.
While presenting the National Sustainable Development Strategy, Djelic said that the PET packaging issue still has not been legally solved and added that there are two possible ways to do that.
He explained that the first is more unfavourable for consumers because it implies the introduction of a fee on packaging, and the second is recycling, which the Serbian government recommends and which is an important element of the Sustainable Development Strategy.
