Transport development strategy adopted

The Ministry of Infrastructure stated that the Serbian government adopted the strategy of development of rail, road, waterway, air and intermodal transport in Serbia in the period from 2008 to 2015.
The strategy defines the situation in transport, the concept of infrastructure and transport development as well as long-term and limited-term goals.
Transport infrastructure has major instrumental significance in modern regional development and protection of territorial integrity, and directed investments can contribute to uniform distribution of GDP per capita.
In order to reach the level of countries which have candidate status or are members of the EU it is necessary to reach a level of development comparable to these countries; the strategy regulates steps in this direction and determines priorities, concludes the statement.
