Work of Serbian judiciary becomes transparent

Serbian Minister of Justice Zoran Stojkovic told Radio SCG today that the Council of Europe (CoE) described the work of the Serbian judiciary as transparent, which marks a considerable progress in this field.
The CoE report reads that the Ministry of Justice has taken on the initiative to cooperate with this institution, particularly in drafting the new protocol on cooperation and submitting certain number of draft laws for expertise.
Stojkovic said that the report also reads that it is necessary to make the reforms complete by passing the new Constitution. He also said that this should be seen not as a way of pressurizing, but as usual request, noting that European standards will be incorporated in the judiciary as well as in the new Constitution.
Europe criticises the fact that our reforms are not overall, which affects independence and impartiality of justices and prosecutors, Stojkovic said, adding that the CoE has commended the establishment of the State Union’s Court.
