Djelic said that in Baden near Vienna negotiations are being held under the UN auspices, and in a heated debate with Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Djelic underlined that with the mediation of the international community, Belgrade and Pristina are trying to find a compromise solution acceptable for both sides and that statements in favour of the solution proposed by one side do not contribute to success of the negotiations.
Commenting on the speech by Sali Berisha, who said that Albania supports the independence of Kosovo-Metohija, Djelic said that such attitudes are inappropriate and undiplomatic.
Djelic requested from Albania not to interfere in the course of negotiations and highlighted that the UN Security Council is a body that will bring the final decision on the future status of the southern Serbian province.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that Serbia will not accept independence of Kosovo-Metohija and reiterated that Serbia’s negotiating team is still constructive, that it participates in the talks with full capacity, comes up with new fresh ideas and employs great efforts to reach a compromise solution which will bring stability to the region.
The conclusion of the summit of prime ministers of the CEI gives full support to the negotiating process and active participation of the Serbian negotiating team in it.
As part of the summit, Djelic held bilateral meetings with prime ministers of Bulgaria and Macedonia and deputy prime ministers of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanisev informed Djelic on the construction of the highway from Burgas to the border with Serbia and told him that talks with Gazprom are underway regarding the construction of a branch of the gas pipe line through Bulgaria.
