2.7% of GDP from budget for military in upcoming year

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic said today that 2.7% of GDP will be allocated from the budget to the Serbian Army in the upcoming year.

Holding a lecture at the Military Academy on European integration, Djelic said that this sum is not enough, and funds for the military will be increased.
He said that a professional and modern Serbian Army is the guarantee for stability. He added that during the years to come it will become one of the most valued institutions of our society, and serving the army will be considered a privilege and an honour.
Djelic pointed out that it is important to resolve the problem of housing for members of the armed forces, and added that the government has provided RSD 1 billion for subsiding housing loans to those who are in urgent need.
The lecture by Djelic was attended by Serbian Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac.
