Cooperation between Serbian, Italian ministries of defence to continue

Serbian Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac stressed today in talks with Italian Minister of Defence Arturo Parisi that Serbia highly values Italy’s strong support of Serbia’s full membership in the Partnership for Peace programme and the EU.

According to a statement by the Defence Ministry, Sutanovac said that Italy is one of Serbia’s most important partners and that as a contact country for Serbia in cooperation with the NATO it is continuously working to improve this cooperation.
The Italian Defence Minister, who is in Belgrade on a one-day visit, especially emphasised that the KFOR, which includes 2,300 Italian soldiers, will make all efforts to prevent violence in Kosovo-Metohija and protect non-Albanian, particularly Serb population in the province.
Sutanovac and Parisi expressed determination to continue defence and military cooperation between Serbia and Italy. During today’s meeting they also discussed forming a fund to clear-up damage from cluster bombs.
