Djelic said that the first phase of works will last 14 months and will be worth nearly €5 million, noting that the funds were provided through a donation by the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR).
He added that with the reconstruction of this border crossing Serbia will be a step closer to Europe and recalled that almost €21 million has been provided for reconstruction of border crossings Batrovci, Horgos, Dimitrovgrad and Presevo.
He also announced that the motorway to the Macedonian border will be finished by the end of this government’s term in office.
Ilic pointed out that after reconstruction, the Presevo border crossings will be among the most modernised ones, adding that Annex for construction of ten kilometres of motorway from the Macedonian border toward Leskovac has been signed but it is necessary to solve property relations first.
Tenders for sections of Corridor 10 from Leskovac to the Macedonian border and from Nis to Dimitrovgrad are ready and will be announced after they go through government’s procedures, Ilic said.
The Presevo reconstruction project was done by Energoprojekt, Putevi Uzice is contractor while transportation institute CIP is in charge of monitoring.
The reconstruction and construction of the border crossing, which is on E-75 motorway and pan-European Corridor 10 on the border with Macedonia, will improve necessary capacities that will be adjusted to EU standards.
