The Serbian Ministry of Economy and Regional Development warned today the employees of the socially-owned company "Yumco" who have been offered permanent jobs at the British company “Zamber” that the deadline given to them to say whether they will accept that job or not, will not be extended.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development reads that all those who are now redundant workers in "Yumco", and refuse a permanent job and higher salary in "Zamber", will be fired and lose the right to severance pay.
The Ministry of Economy will not allow that the money of Serbia's taxpayers be spent on subsidies and social welfare programmes for those who do not want to earn a living and refuse a permanent and secure work in a company which exports its entire production and is perspective.
The exact number of workers who want to work in the new factory will be known on October 22.
In line with the Labour Law, all redundant workers of "Yumco" who have refused the offer of a secure job and higher salary will receive notice of dismissal on Monday by the end of the working day, the statement reads.
