Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Milan Markovic, at the invitation of Spanish Minster of Public Administration and Elena Salgado, is participating at the 15th session of the Conference of Ministers responsible for Local and Regional Entities of the Member States of the Council of Europe in Valencia “Good local and regional governance – the European challenge”.
Representing the presiding country of the CoE Council of Ministers, Markovic spoke at the opening of the two-day conference and said that Serbia supports all activities envisioned by the platform for establishment of good governance on local and regional level and implementation of the Budapest agenda medium-term, which was adopted at the 14th session of the conference.
Markovic listed the most important activities executed during
Serbia’s presidency over the CoE Council of Ministers, including the ratification of the European Charter on Local Self-Government, and informed the ministers on the work of the Serbian Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government on legal framework local governance system in Serbia.
The conference takes place every three years and is opportunity for ministers responsible for local and regional entities to exchange experiences on the progress achieved in implementation of reforms.
On the margins of the conference, Markovic will meet with his colleagues top officials from CoE countries, according to a statement.
