The statement adds that Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic stated that the ministry is grateful to the families of the deceased for mustering the strength to make a noble decision in the moments of sorrow and thus help four other people continue their lives thanks to transplanted kidneys.
Minister Milosavljevic recalled that a total of 40 kidney transplantations were performed in 2007, 15 of which were deceased persons’ kidneys.
A team of surgeons headed by Professor Drago Milutinovic performed the operations.
The team comprised doctors Cedomir Topuzovic and Nebojsa Zivanovic, anaesthesiologist Dragana Vujadinovic, kidney transplantation project coordinator Stevan Pavlovic and nephrologists Radmila Blagojevic-Lazic and Biljana Radivojevic-Djokic, adds the statement.
