In a pause of the conference “
Population, Population Policy and Development", Djelic announced that Belgrade authorities will continue with a diplomatic offensive in the weeks to come with the aim of preserving sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state.
According to him, the fact that the risk from unilateral proclamation of the province’s independence by a UN SC resolution has been removed.
Djelic said that steps ahead are visible but added that the days that await us are difficult.
He noted that
last week’s meeting of top officials of Belgrade and Pristina is encouraging, but that Serbia is yet to do hard work in diplomacy.
Speaking on Slovenia’s proposal that Serbia gets EU candidacy status sooner, he noted that such an initiative is the result of the Serbian diplomacy and Slovene interests.
It is clear that Slovenia, as EU presiding country, has on the top of its agenda strengthening ties of the EU with the Western Balkans, where Serbia is the central country, the Deputy Prime Minister noted and announced a visit to Ljubljana by the end of the year.
He reiterated that cooperation with the Hague tribunal remains Serbia’s international obligation and that Brussels expects this cooperation to be completed.
