Having emphasised how essential it is for Serbia to continue with the EU integration process, Djelic voiced belief that the signing of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU may take place by the year’s end.
The Deputy Prime Minister was the only scheduled speaker at the gathering and there was huge interest for the presentation about Serbia which he delivered. Over 250 members from both parliamentary groups attended the lecture.
Members of the Party of European Socialists fully endorsed Serbia’s European agenda, and particularly advocated that it be granted candidate status as soon as possible. As for the Serbian province, they supported Serbia’s constructive stance, agreed that the talks are the best way to reach a solution and rejected unilateral acknowledgement as an alternative.
