Djelic, who participated in the Sochi conference with the Serbian delegation, told RTS that entrance of Russian investors in the Serbian market is the best way to reduce Serbia’s huge foreign deficit with the Russian Federation.
Pointing out that Russian interests are equal to Serbia’s, the Deputy Prime Minister warned that the deficit could exceed as much as $3 billion this year.
He said that tourist company Putnik is being taken over by Russian partners and underlined that Russian investors can use duty free regime which Serbia has with Russia.
The tender for Jat Airways should be called by the end of the year, and Russian firms do not ask for any privileges because of the support Russia gives Serbia over Kosovo.
Speaking about cooperation with Russia concerning gas, he said that the issue of gas pipeline is one of Serbia's main priorities, and that it is in national interest that a section of the pipeline goes through Serbia.
The Serbian Deputy Prime Minister also said that Russian people do not support independence of Kosovo, but the policy of the Russian state on this issue.
