Having recalled that the Serbian government has initiated the privatisation process of Jat Airways and that the privatisation advisor was recently elected, Djelic voiced hope that the tender, which will be held at the international level and under equal terms for all investors, will be called by the end of the year.
We expect a good strategic partner by next summer at the latest, stated Djelic who is heading a Serbian government delegation on a several day visit to Russia. The delegation is also taking part in the largest Russian investment forum in Sochi.
Djelic voiced pleasure that a large company such as Aeroflot is interested in Jat Airways and added it is very important for Serbia that its air company becomes the regional leader in the Balkans.
Following the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Djelic, Aeroflot General Director Valery Okulov stated that Aeroflot’s plans do not come down only to acquiring assets, but also include dynamic development of Jat Airways and its transformation into the key and powerful new transportation company in the Balkans.
Members of the Serbian delegation also taking part in the meeting with Okulov include ministers of trade and services and finance, Predrag Bubalo and Mirko Cvetkovic respectively.
