Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Popovic walked out of a gathering today in Ljubljana, as a sign of protest. The gathering in Ljubljana was dedicated to the beginning of a programme for technical training in the area of energy for experts from South East European countries, Moldavia and Ukraine.
According to a statement by the ministry, despite the fact that in all preparations and documentation for this gathering the status of Kosovo-Metohija was clearly defined in accordance with the UN SC Resolution 1244, the Serbian province was mentioned, parallel to Serbia and other countries in the region as a participant country in the support programme.
Minister Popovic protested to organisers, representatives of the Slovenian government and the UK embassy and walked out of the gathering, following which the organiser forwarded an apology and corrected the facts, clearly defining Kosovo-Metohija in accordance with the UN SC Resolution 1244.
