Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic said today, prior to tomorrow's visit of the Serbian delegation to Moscow, that political and economic cooperation with Russia is one of Serbia's foreign policy priorities.
In a statement to Ria Novosti news agency, Djelic said that this visit will focus on further improvement of trade and economic exchange, which in 2006 stood at $2.5 billion.
Speaking about the future status of Kosovo-Metohija, Djelic said that that is a political issue and denied that Russian firms have advantage in Serbia in exchange for Russia's support on the Kosovo issue.
He said that both Russia and Serbia build their foreign policy in line with norms and rules that protect the sovereignty of independent states - the UN members, which means Serbia as well.
Djelic said that Serbia welcomes Russian investments in the Serbian economy, which in the period from 2000 to 2006 stood at $400 million.
The Serbian delegation will speak with Envoy of the Russian president for the Central Federal District Georgy Poltavchenko and Minister for Emergency Situations Sergey Shoigu, and then in Sochi it will participate in the Sixth international investment forum which will begin on September 21.
