Djelic spoke today in Pirot with presidents of municipalities of Dimitrovgrad, Babusnica and Bela Palanka as well as businesspeople from companies Tigar and the Pirot free zone.
He stressed that SAA is the first and the last agreement with the Union before the country joins the EU and noted that certain quotas were gained for many economic branches.
He explained that SAA envisions transitional period of six years that will allow the Serbian economy resist European competition and added that he expects that Serbia after the expiry of this period will become full-fledged member of the EU.
Djelic said that the agreement envisions opening the market of Serbia to the EU market and added that our economy should get ready for the European game and competition within six years.
He also said that SAA is expected to be initialled in October and signed by the end of the year, noting that after that we will have to fight for EU candidacy status, which means that its budget will be closer to us, the large part of which is for the development of agriculture and regional development.
Djelic said that the solution to the problem of Kosovo-Metohija and Serbia’s EU accession are not related processed and reiterated that Serbia is not threatening anyone nor will it in any way endanger the stability of the Balkans.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that important national projects are financed from the state budget.
We plan to set aside RSD 44 billion from the National Investment Plan and the competition is underway, we will stimulate the development of certain branches, and the Old Mountain is set as one of priorities for the development of tourism in the country, Djelic said and added that a master plan for this mountain will be created.
Djelic said that the economy is still being subsidised from the Development Fund and added that we have RSD 1 billion from the state budget for start-up loans without mortgage for business ventures.
He announced that a bill on regional development is being worked on and added that around €100 million is set aside from the budget for this purpose.
Djelic said that construction of the Nis-Sofia gas pipe line and highway is important and added that these are project on the national level.
After visiting Pirot, Djelic also visited Dimitrovgrad and Knjazevac.
