Serbia-Montenegro has made substantial progress in building state union institutions, establishing the rule of law and creating an independent judiciary, said Kostunica, pointing to the importance of Romania’s support for Serbia-Montenegro’s efforts to join the European Union.
The Prime Minister also stressed that Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo-Metohija must be allowed to exercise basic human rights.
Geoana said that Romania supports Serbia-Montenegrin efforts to integrate into European institutions, as well as the integration of the entire West Balkan region.
According to the Minister, Romania also supports full observance of the UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
He added that Romania will propose steps to further liberalise visa requirements for Serbia-Montenegrin citizens.
The two officials also pointed to the importance of building the Constanta-Pancevo-Omisalj oil pipeline as part of efforts to further improve economic ties.
