Kostunica said that the government is resolute to build institutions, improve stability, and introduce the rule of law. He also said that all citizens must be equal regardless of their ethnicity or religion.
President of Vojvodina Hungarians Jozef Kasa reminded of the fact that the number of incidents against Hungarian ethnic group has increased since March this year, which negatively affects inter-ethnic relations in the Republic.
They agreed that it is necessary to put joint efforts so as to prevent the incidents and develop inter-ethnic tolerance.
The meeting was also attended by Serbian Minster of Interior Dragan Jocic, who said that overall joint action is necessary to prevent such incidents.
Jocic said that from January 1, 2003 until June 30, 2004 there were 49 inter-ethnic incidents in Vojvodina. He also said that charges were filed against 50 perpetrators on grounded suspicion they perpetrated criminal acts.
They concluded that it is important to preserve inter-ethnic tolerance and trust by putting joint efforts of both the government bodies and ethnic groups in preventing any conflicts.
