The Ministry of Youth and Sports says in a statement that Samardzic-Markovic voiced pleasure at being given the opportunity to congratulate the young athletes on their victory in person and added they have made their whole country proud.
This huge success should set an example to all young people in our country and become a model for cherishing true values which should be promoted and respected in the entire society, she said.
The Minister stressed that it is the obligation of the state to take care of the so-called small sports which bring great glory and prize money, as well as promote the country in the best way. She added these sports will be included in the sports development strategy which the Ministry will adopt.
She also congratulated the coaches and selectors who created the young champions.
At the championship, held in Budapest from July 6 to 8, members of the Serbian taekwondo cadet team won one gold medal (Dajana Perisic), three silver medals (Miodrag Jovanovic, Aleksandar Jankovic, Jelena Jablanov) and three bronze medals (Aleksandra Naumovska, Ivana Ljubojevic, Ivan Lazic).
