Serbian Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac and Serbian Army General Staff Zdravko Ponos presented today organisational reforms in the Serbian Army to ambassadors and military envoys accredited in Serbia.
Sutanovac said in the presentation that lack of legal framework is the biggest problem for the Ministry of Defence and expressed hope that the government will adopt the Presentational document and Security agreement with NATO by the end of the month.
He also voiced hope that laws on defence, army, participation in peacekeeping missions and protection of secrecy of data will be on parliament’s agenda at the autumn sitting.
Sutanovac also expressed readiness for cooperation of the Ministry of Defence and parliament as it is a shared mutual interest as well as in the interest of Serbian citizens.
Ponos held a presentation on changes carried out in the army and stressed that the whole process was completed in 13 months. He stated the future training of army officers and professionalisation of the army as priorities.
