Speaking at a joint press conference held after a meeting with Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister Gordana Djurovic, Djelic explained that Serbia would like to get Montenegro's support, as it has received the support of some other countries, some of which are members of the Security Council.
According to Djelic, Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic and Prime Minister Zeljko Sturanovic informed him during today's meeting that Montenegro will remain neutral and will not declare itself on this issue.
Djelic said that it is positive that the Montenegrin stated that it endorses a compromising solution and that it hopes it will be reached in the United Nations.
Djurovic said that Montenegro will respect international agreements and decisions of the Security Council when it comes to Kosovo.
Together with the Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister, Djelic agreed to form a Western Balkan group in autumn, after the model of the Visegrad Group, through which the countries of the western Balkans would jointly negotiate with the European Union and perform tasks related to EU accession.
Djelic and Djurovic said that the prime ministers of Serbia and Montenegro, Vojislav Kostunica and Zeljko Sturanovic respectively, will meet in Belgrade or Podgorica to discuss common activities of the two countries on the road to the EU.
Djelic and Djurovic announced cooperation in the field of European integration, increased presence of Serbian investors on the Montenegrin market and creating conditions for citizens of both countries to work and receive education and health care under the same conditions.
The two officials agreed that construction of Belgrade-Bar road should be accelerated, that Serbia invests in the Port of Bar and to extend the interim agreement on pension and disability insurance.
Serbia does not expect any privileges, but believes that for Montenegro it is not the same to Montenegrins whether Serbia or someone else invests in its economy, Djelic said.
He said that the Serbian government will speed up the procedure for granting citizenship to Montenegrin citizens who reside in Serbia.
Asked whether Belgrade will accept the request that all Serbs from Montenegro get dual citizenship, Djelic said that Serbia does not ignore the fact that Serbs make up 33% of Montenegro's population and that that issue will be resolved according to European standards.
