The theme of the meeting was “Social and civil dialogue as means for securing democratic transition and success of EU partnership".
Lakicevic-Stojacic pointed to the importance of the method of peaceful resolution of labour disputes and underlined that the role of the Serbian Agency for Peaceful Resolution of Labour Disputes should be strengthened, while social partners should be encouraged to resolve disputes in a peaceful manner, with the help of mediators and arbitration.
She said that the aim is to conclude a general collective agreement and collective agreements in all industries, which would secure the minimum rights of employees.
The conference, which gathered representatives of governments, trade unions, associations of employers and non-governmental organisations from the countries of the former Yugoslavia, as well as from Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey and the Ukraine, was organised by the European Economic and Social Committee and the Socio-Economic Council of the Republic of Bulgaria.
