Continuation of SAA talks significantly strengthens Serbia-EU partnership

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today that the decision of European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso on resuming pre-membership agreement talks between the EU and Serbia on June 13 is a particularly positive development.

In a statement to Tanjug, Kostunica stressed that this is good news that brings greater stability and significantly strengthens partnership relations between Serbia and the EU.
The Prime Minister stressed that there is full resolve and clear political will from the Serbian government to fulfill its international obligations and to complete cooperation with The Hague, which is in Serbia’s best interest.
He pointed out that resumption of negotiations is at the same time the best chance for the EU, in the spirit of full and real partnership relations, to show respect to Serbia and strongly support sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, and therefore Serbia’s efforts to find a compromise solution in line with the UN Charter in the continued negotiations on the future status of Kosovo-Metohija.
