Agreement reached on using World Bank loan for reform of the pension system

Serbian Minister of Labour and Social Policy Rasim Ljajic talked today with a World Bank delegation on the realisation of a project of consolidation of payment collection and reform of the pension system that will be financed from World Bank funds.
The delegation was led by Director of the World Bank Office in Serbia Carolyn Jungr. The $25 million loan was approved under IDA conditions and it became effective on December 20, 2005, but its realisation has not started yet.
During today's meeting an agreement was reached on how to use these funds for reform. Participants also talked about a project of improvement of services at the local level, with which certain functions in the system of social care are being decentralised.
The value of this project is $70 million, of which $15 million will be set aside for social care. Apart from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the ministries of education and health will also be included in this project.
